What we do when there is no record
The older the system, the less likely Island Health holds a record of it.
Island Health should have records for all systems from 2005 onward and most from 1990 to 2005. Before that, often nothing. We can submit Island Health's record request form on your behalf. Island Health charges a $50.00 fee per property. Where the file is empty, we locate and uncover the tank and report on what is actually there.
What an inspection can tell you before you buy
If expanding your home increases daily wastewater volume, we may need to upgrade your system.
We tell you what type the system is, what condition it is in, and whether it is sized for how you plan to use the house. Adding bedrooms increases daily sewage flow, which can require a new system.
