Campbell River Septic

Serving Campbell River and north Vancouver Island

Where Campbell River Septic Works

Campbell River Septic works in 5 service areas: Campbell River, Willow Point, Campbellton, Quadra Island and Oyster River. Two of those are neighbourhoods inside the city and two sit in electoral areas of the Strathcona Regional District. Where you are changes your building paperwork, not your Island Health filing.

Pick the area you are in and we'll tell you what applies there. If you are just outside one of these and not far off, send us the address anyway.

Why the boundary you sit on matters

Your Island Health filing applies everywhere. Which office issues your building permit depends on where you are.

Two different sets of paperwork can touch a septic job here, and they answer to different people.

The filing is provincial. It runs through Island Health, and it applies to any building with indoor plumbing that is not on a municipal or city sewage system — inside the city, out in the electoral areas, on an island, everywhere. Crossing a boundary does not get you out of it.

The building permit is local, and it does change with the boundary. Inside the city it comes from the municipality. Out in the electoral areas it depends which one you are in.

What this looks like on a real parcel

We make the Island Health filing wherever your parcel sits, and we tell you which electoral area you are in.

What does a job like this look like?

The situation

Somebody buying a rural parcel calls to ask what they are allowed to build and what the septic will involve.

What makes it harder

The parcel sits south of the city rather than inside it, so the building side and the septic side answer to two different authorities.

What we do

We sort it into two lists on the first call. The Island Health filing is ours to make either way, and we tell you which of the four electoral areas you are in before you go any further.

Questions about where we go

Do you charge more to come further out?

The quote covers the work and getting to it, and we tell you the number before we book. There is no separate travel line added afterwards.

Can you get to an island property?

Yes. Quadra Island is a ferry ride from town and we work there regularly, so a ferry crossing is part of the ordinary day rather than a special arrangement.

What if I am just outside the areas you list?

Send the address anyway. We will tell you on the phone whether we can get to you, so you know either way in a minute.

Does my address change what my system has to meet?

No. The Sewerage System Regulation is provincial and the standard is the same at every address we work at. What changes is the building paperwork alongside it.

Each of the five pages above says what applies in that area, and what we get called out for most often there.

Tell us which of these you are in and we'll get a free quote to you.
